PT Indorama Synthetics
Tbk has a leadership position in polyester and spun yarns
production and as manufacturer and exporter of quality
polyester fibre and filament yarns, PET resins, spun yarns
and finished fabrics.
The various process plants located at Purwakarta require
vast amounts of steam and power. Steam is generated using
oil fired low-pressure boilers in the plant. Power supply
is generated using in-plant D.G. sets and the local PLN
state supply grid.
As the cost of fuel and electricity tariff has escalated
tremendously over the last few years, Indorama has decided
to install a captive cogeneration power plant (CPP) to
meet the requirements of steam and power for the process
plant, economically.
The installed capacity of the coal fired cogeneration
power plant is 2x30 mw. Total area of the CPP including
green belt is about 16 hectares. The first unit was commissioned
within 24 months from the date of agreement and the second
unit within 27 months. The entire CPP is controlled from
the central control room by DCS.
The power plant is equipped with a closed coal shed, pre-ESP,
flue gas desulphurisation unit, bag filter, re-use water
system and an ash dyke to fulfill environmental requirements
of the IFC and Indonesian regulations.
