Indorama Lanka, as a responsible corporate citizen,
has set tough parameters with regard to environmental
issues. Some of the targets set by the company
are:
To minimise
pollution created by the sound of machinery. The
company has set a target better than the standard
level specified by the central environmental authority
Made extra
efforts and investments to ensure that the water
from the factory has been treated with utmost care
prior to its release to the environment
Smoke emission
to the air from the plant has been exceptionally
curtailed. Generators and other equipments have
been maintained in very good manner to ensure that
smoke and other emissions are well within the stipulated
limit
Although it
is not essential, the company has taken the responsibility
of planting and maintaining trees within the premises
in an attempt to beautify the area and to conserve
nature
The
Central Environmental Authority, the governmental
organisation responsible for the conservation of
environment in Sri Lanka has recognised the extra
efforts made by Indorama Lanka to this worthy cause
and has awarded the company with a certificate in
this regard.
BOI
certificate to function as a textile plant in Sri
Lanka
Indorama Lanka is a large and a key investor in
Sri Lanka. Considering the contribution to the Sri
Lankan economy through direct investment, foreign
exchange earning, provision of direct employment
to Sri Lankans, technical advancements and other
indirect contributions, the Board of Investment
of Sri Lanka (BOI) has granted the company a special
certificate to operate as a BOI company in Sri Lanka.
Certificate
awarded by Control Union World Group
The Control Union World Group, one of world's best
recognised organic product inspection companies
has awarded Indorama Lanka with a certificate under
which the company is authorised to produce 'organic
cotton products'. Indorama Lanka is the only company
in Sri Lanka to receive such a certificate.
