Founded by
Mr. M.L. Lohia in 1976 in Indonesia with a small spun
yarn manufacturing plant, the Indorama Group today is
an emerging market specialist with plants in seven countries
Indonesia, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Turkey,
Nigeria, Egypt and representative offices in USA, UK,
and Singapore. Indorama is a global manufacturer of
diversified industrial products Polyolefins (Polyethylene
and Polypropylene), Polyesters and Intermediates (Purified
Terephthalic Acid, PET Resin, Filament Yarns and Staple
Fibre), Spun Yarns, Fabrics and Medical Gloves; with
2007 turnover and total assets estimated at US $ 1.6
billion and US $ 1.7 billion respectively. Mr. Sri Prakash
Lohia is the Group Chairman and Mr. Amit Lohia the Group
Managing Director.
With products shipped to over 85 countries
across the five continents, Indorama has a global vision
and a strategic global presence. A dedicated workforce
of 16,000 employees across the globe from half a dozen
nationalities help us further improve our standards
of excellence.
Indorama Group, with its associates
(headquartered in India and Thailand) currently ranks
as the eighth largest producer of polyester polymer
in the world with a combined production of 1.4 million
tons per annum.
Indorama's first business foray into
Spun Yarns continues to be one of its core business
activities, with a consolidated capacity of over 421,000
spindles across four countries in Indonesia, Egypt,
Turkey and Sri Lanka.
Indorama's acquisition in 2006 of
Eleme Petrochemicals in Nigeria makes it Nigeria's largest
olefins producer (starting from natural gas) with an
annual capacity of 350,000 tons of Polyethylene and
Polypropylene resins.
Indorama commissioned in 2006, one
of the world's largest single train plants to manufacture
700,000 tpa of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) in Thailand,
the major raw material used for polyester production.
Indorama Group is working towards
setting up a greenfield project in Egypt to manufacture
Ammonia from Natural Gas.
