An overview of the products and sectors that the Indorama
Group operates in:
Spun Yarns
Established
in 1976, spinning is the oldest business of Indorama.
With a modest capacity of 25,000 spindles, Indorama's
spun yarn business has since then grown exponentially
in Indonesia and globally with current capacities of
over 421,000 spindles. A wide range of products for
apparel, non-apparel, sewing thread and industrial uses
are manufactured at the spinning plants. Indorama manufactures
Cotton, Polyester, Rayon, Acrylic and Linen yarns as
also various blends of these fibres. It is a leader
in the production of speciality yarns such as Organic
Cotton, Core-spun Spandex, Mélange, slub effects
and Linen blends. Speciality yarns constitute over a
third of the output. Indorama's spun yarns are widely
used for knitting and weaving and for the manufacture
of carpets. Indorama also has modern and fully equipped
yarn dyeing facilities that helps meet the customer's
preference for dyed yarns.
Polyester Filament
Yarns and Fibres
Indorama
commenced manufacturing of Polyester in 1991 and has
since then emerged as one of the largest producers in
the ASEAN region with an annual capacity of over 270,000
mt per year of polyester filament yarns, polyester staple
fibre and textile grade chips. Indorama produces a wide
range of textile yarns and speciality products ranging
from 50 to 600 denier yarns and 0.9 to 1.4 denier fibres
including a variety of differentiated and customised
products viz. differential shrinkage, micro filament,
cationic dyeable, stretch, bi-component and many other
specially tailored-made products. Polyester Yarns and
Fibres produced by Indorama are suitable for many diverse
applications such as fashion apparel, sports and performance
wear, home furnishings, automotive upholstery, tapes
and belts, medical and hygiene applications, luggage
and sewing threads.
Purified Terephthalic
Acid (PTA)
Indorama commissioned in 2006 one of the world's largest
single train plant to manufacture 700,000 tpa of Purified
Terephthalic Acid (PTA) in Thailand, the major raw material
used for polyester production. There is a growth in
demand for PTA, particularly in Asia, driven by increasing
end usages of polyesters in apparel, packaging and industrial
applications. To ensure consistent high product quality,
Indorama has invested in advanced quality control systems
and equipment from leading global manufacturers.
Olefins, Polyethylene
and Polypropylene
Indorama's
acquisition in 2006 of Eleme Petrochemicals in Nigeria
makes it Nigeria's largest olefins producer (by cracking
natural gas liquids) with an annual capacity of 350,000
tons of Polyethylene and Polypropylene resins. HDPE
finds use in plastic bags, containers, water pipes,
lamination, liners, household containers like buckets,
mugs, caps etc. LLDPE is used extensively for its high
tensile strength and puncture resistance in water storage
tanks, chemical tanks, garbage bins, general purpose
film, laminations etc. Polypropylene has numerous applications
like food packaging, textiles, plastic containers, injection
moulding, toys, packaging etc
PET Resin
Indorama
started its bottle grade PET resin operations in 1995
with the largest dedicated plant in the ASEAN region.
PET resins are used in quality bottling and packaging
applications for mineral water, carbonated soft drinks,
beverages, beer and food.
Fabrics
Indorama
started manufacturing Polyester filament greige fabrics
in 1994. Subsequently, facilities for dyeing, printing
and finishing were also added. We are a super store
for polyester filament fabrics, inspired to mimic and
improve the properties of Cotton, Wool, Silk, Linen
and Viscose. The product range, called Spectrum, hosts
a range of different constructions, yarns and finishes
of greige, dyed and printed fabrics. The Spectrum range
of fabric addresses almost all requirements for fashion
fabrics, eveningwear, bottom-weights and summer wear.
A large database of designs and a talented team of artists
offer the customer unlimited choice of fabrics.
Cement
Indorama
commissioned in 1999 its cement manufacturing plant
in India. Its key products are Commando- PSC (Portland
Slag Cement) and Durocem- GGBS (Ground Granulated Blast
Furnace Slag), which are well accepted in western India,
its core market, where it has established a leadership
position among blended cements. Indorama Cement has
recently become a joint venture between the Indorama
Group and Heidelberg Cement Group of Germany. Heidelberg
is one of the largest cement conglomerates, operating
in over fifty countries and among the top five cement
companies in the world. This partnership will unlock
growth opportunities.
Power Generation
Indorama
set up in 2006 a captive coal fired cogeneration power
plant of 60 MW in Indonesia to meet the requirements
of steam and power at its main manufacturing complex
to insulate itself from the rising fuel and electricity
costs.
Medical Gloves
Established in 1989, the rubber gloves manufacturing
plant is one of Indonesia's largest manufacturers and
exporters of quality medical gloves made from natural
latex and synthetic materials. The polychloroprene synthetic
gloves have been patented by the Group.
Real Estate
Indorama
has been engaged in real estate development since 1995
in Indonesia. The company has built three very prestigious
office buildings in Jakarta, Indonesia with a built-up
area of one million square feet.
Ammonia
Indorama Group is working towards
setting up a greenfield project in Egypt to manufacture
Ammonia from Natural Gas.
