Women at the helm: A new frontier in Uzbekistan’s agriculture

Women at the helm: A new frontier in Uzbekistan’s agriculture

Indorama Agro has launched an initiative to promote equal opportunities for women in our advanced John Deere farming machine operations. In the Nishon district, one of the four districts where Indorama Agro has large farming operations, five of our current female employees have enrolled on a specialized training program to become tractor operators. These women will be trained to operate a variety of agricultural machinery. Training will include classroom-based learning and on-machine operations; Vocational Certification to make them employable across the industry; and Comprehensive Skill Development to be future trainers. This initiative will break the perception of gender bias in farming operations and aims to open new employment opportunities for women to empower themselves.

Looking ahead, Indorama Agro plans to expand the program to include women from remote rural areas, further promoting gender equality and empowering women across Uzbekistan.
